Dyson V15 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner
Looking for the best cordless vacuum cleaner? The Dyson V15 is, quite simply, everything you want from a vacuum cleaner; it's powerful, intelligent and easy to use. It's the cordless vacuum cleaner we own and use everyday. We believe it is worth the hefty price tag of £479, but if that is too steep then a worthwhile compromise is the V11 at £349.
Dyson are known for challenging mediocrity. They take a product, make it better, make it simpler and solve all the annoying little quirks that other manufacturers think are acceptable.
No moreso is that true than in the world of corldess vacuum cleaners. While the competitors churn out vacuums that look good on paper, with power and suction metrics every bit as good as a Dyson, they fail to deliver in the real world.
So, what is so great about the Dyson V15 and why this Dyson?
Let's start with the basics. The Dyson comes with a wall mounted dock that charges the V15 and holds all its attachments. It sits conveniently on your wall just waiting to be used. What a simple thing to provide; you'd think Shark, Samsung or Hoover or the other countless 'competitor' models would come with one, wouldn't you?! But they don't, so when you need to vacuum you'll find you battery levels low, the attachment you need will be missing and you'll get angry! Yes angry! Because you didn't buy the Dyson! Don't do this to yourself.
Am I telling you to buy a Dyson just because it has a great wall dock?! No, of course not! Once you've taken your Dyson out of its dock and noted its full battery, you'll connect one of the 3 easy to use, easy to change, attachments and away you'll go. In 2 minutes time you'll have cleaned up the mess your children left under the dining table and be back to loading the dishwasher! Will you have a crooked back? No, because the long hose attachment will save you stooping over. Will it have picked up all the mess? Yes, because the clever Detect technology hidden in the V15 automatically flicks between 3 suction powers to make easy work of the job. Plus the nozzle or head you use will work on any surface and reach any corner. And conveniently, since the V15 has a relatively large bin you won't need to empty it very often. Nice.
The reality nowadays is that most households only own a cordless vacuum cleaner and have thrown their old upright vacuum away. And it's easy to see why. This V15 is actually more powerful than most upright vacuums that were on the market 10 years ago, it is light and manoeuvrable, has 60 minutes of genuine battery use and doesn't take up all of the cupboard space under the stairs! We particularly like the tangle free head for carpets that cleverly uses polycarbonate vanes to stop the head and tube getting blocked. No more getting out a biro pen and chopsticks to poke that blockage clear!
The V15's main rival is actually the Dyson V11, which is cheaper than the V15 because it doesn't have the Detect system, meaning you have to manually flick between the 3 power settings. The V11 is available for roughly £349, compared to £549 for the V15, but we feel the price tag of the V15 is justified by the Detect technology that really does extend the battery range. If your budget caps out at £350 and you have a choice of the V11, a Shark or Samsung, we'd recommend the V11, but given a budget of £550 we'd take the V15.
This Dyson V15 typically retails for between £550 and £639 but check out the cheapest prices below to see what deals are on right now.
